On Tuesday January 11 around 6:25pm the battery for the electrostatic cleaning machine exploded and started a fire in the parish center.
Thanks be to God the fire alarm went off in parish center and school. By the grace of God, Tony De Bari, our school tech person, was working on a school project and was present and able to go to the center and extinguish the machine on fire. The Fire department and police department came on the scene and secured the parish center.
The insurance company was contacted immediately to address the situation. For the past few days Belfor company has been in the parish center and school to clean up after the fire. Belfor has done an excellent job in cleanup!
We discovered after the fire that the battery was on a recall list for this reason. Our insurance will cover the expenses incurred.
I am grateful to Bobby Beaton, our facility manager, who has been on top of damages with the Diocese and insurance company to address moving forward! I am also so grateful to God that Tony De Bari was working overtime to save our parish center! I truly believe if he was not there the parish center would have been totally destroyed!
God is good !
Father Bob
Also the night of January 11, due to the water on the parish ramp, Father Bob had a major fall on the ice. The following day he went for an X-ray and thank God no fractured ribs, but various bruised ribs so he’s in pain especially when he coughs or sneezes so healing will take time! Never dull !
